Kelly MacRae

Kelly MacRae has been interested in ethics since her undergraduate work at the University of Toronto, where she took elective courses in "Morality, Medicine and Law" while studying Occupational Therapy. She graduated with a B.Sc. (O.T.) in 1981 and has over twenty years of clinical experience in hospital and community settings, working with people with physical disabilities and with mental health needs. She received her MA in Special Education (1988) and later a Ph.D. (2002) in Human Development and Applied Psychology, both at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. Kelly MacRae held an Assistant Professorship at McMaster University in the Department of Medicine, Division of Occupational Therapy from 1985-1987 where she focused on research, teaching and was a member of the Ethics Committee. She subsequently had an appointment with the University of Toronto, Department of Medicine, Division of Occupational therapy, where she assisted in the mental health component of the program and supervised students' research projects. Kelly MacRae currently works as a Coordinator of Quality Improvement at Whitby Mental Health Centre and leads several projects. She has chaired Whitby's Clinical Ethics Committee since 2002.
