Nancy Nyquist Potter

Dr. Potter is a Professor in the Department of Philosophy, University of Louisville, KY, and the President of the Association for the Advancement of Philosophy and Psychiatry. She is core faculty of the Interdisciplinary Masters Program in Bioethics and Medical Humanities and also teaches courses in Philosophy and Mental Illness, and Race, Gender, and Mental Illness. Her most recent book is Mapping the Edges and the In-Between: A Critical Analysis of Borderline Personality Disorder (Oxford University Press, 2009). She is part of the health care team in Emergency Psychiatry Services once a week. Her current work is on oppositional defiant disorder and the concept of defiance.

Bernard M. Dickens

Dr. Dickens is a member of the English Bar and the Ontario Bar, and Professor Emeritus of Health Law and Policy in the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Medicine, and the Joint Centre for Bioethics at the University of Toronto. He is Departmental Editor for Ethics of the American Journal of Public Health, legal articles co-editor of the Journal of Law, Medicine and Ethics, co-editor of ethical and legal issues of the International Journal of Gynecology and Obstetrics, and a member of editorial boards of several journals including the American Journal of Law & Medicine, and Medicine and Law. He has been a member of the Board of Governors of the American Society of Law, Medicine and Ethics, and is a former Society President. He also chairs the Ethics Advisory Committee of the Public Health Agency of Canada. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and an Officer of the Order of Canada.
